Poll: How many wins will Josh Beckett end up with before a loss?
May 30th, 2007 by Tim Daloisio
We’ve had our current poll up since the beginning of the season and I think the majority rules in this case. In fact, anyone who voted in the past month had better had taken the over and the 95+ win prediction for the season.
According to Coolstandings.com, the Red Sox are currently on pace to end the season with 107 wins, proving the 60% of you who chose 95+ correct and in most cases probably even conservative. All you Yankee fans who desperately voted for less than 86 wins for the Red Sox best look in the mirror as that might be a lofty goal for the Yankees to reach for at this point in the season.
Moving right along to a more topical poll question; How many wins will Josh Beckett end up with before taking his first loss of the season. Currently 8-0 in nine starts this season, Beckett looks like a winning machine this year throwing six quality starts while amassing a 2.65 ERA and sub-1.00 WHIP (.97).
How long do you think this winning streak will last? To help guide you a little, if the rotation stands as is, here are the next five opponents in line to face Beckett; vs. Yankees, @ Arizona, vs. Colorado, @ Atlanta, @ Seattle. Wins against these five opponents would put Beckett at 13-0 and one win away from Roger Clemens’ club record of wins to start a season (1986) without a loss in his first fifteen starts against fourteen wins.
As always, the poll is on the right side of the page…vote away!

The poll’s a little skewed … it assumes he’s going to get another win before he gets a loss. (Ah, the eternal pessimism of a Sox fan; they’re just making it so difficult to keep up the nay-saying this year!)
I’ve enjoyed this site for the past few months I’ve been visiting. Keep up the great work!
