Mutsuzaka Mainland

Red Sox management, John Henry, Theo Epstein, and Terry Francona, met in L.A. with potential Sox starter Daisuke Matsuzaka and his agent Scott Boras over the weekend. Matsuzaka took in a Laker game and visited with fellow country mate Kaz Matsui of the Rockies before heading back to Japan.

“I was surprised to have a dinner with them,” Matsuzaka said, according to a translation provided by Japanese reporter Gaku Tashiro. “Meeting the Boston owner, GM, and the manager is the most impressive thing during this trip. I feel close to becoming a major league player.”

Matsuzaka and Boras
In this picture of the two at the game, do you think Boras is saying:

  1. “Thats a three point shot, its worth three points.”
  2. “Is this how you grip the gyroball?”
  3. “That Steinbrenner has called three times today trying to get you to stay in Japan.”
  4. “They are already making Playstation 3?”
  5. “I can only get you three years, $33 million from Theo. We may have to take it.”

Alex Gonzalez has signed a three year, $14 million dollar deal with the Cincinnati Reds leaving the Red Sox looking for their 5th shortstop since the beginning of the 2004 season. All signs point to Julio Lugo who has not seen the action he was expected to. Another former Red Sox SS, Nomar Garciaparra, extended his stay in L.A. another two years.

Alfonso Soriano became the biggest name to sign this offseason, agreeing to an eight year $136 million dollar contract with the Chicago Cubs. The Soriano signing makes the potential trade market for Manny Ramirez a little riper.

I think the three fingers means that Boras(s) wants his guy to sign for three years…the Sox want more. It’s Monday…that was lame.

I always have terrible trouble with comment-related plugins that require me to put some line in the comment loop; I can never seem to find the right spot. Can anyone tell me where I should put the php line in my comments loop? I haven not modified anything much, and I would be very grateful. Thanks!
